School-Wide Expectations and PBIS

SCHOOL-WIDE EXPECTATIONS & PBIS

This plan, established by a voluntary discipline committee, will be put into effect on the 1st day of school. Posters of rules and consequences provided by the school will be posted in a highly visible area of each classroom. Rules and consequences will be enforced by all faculty members. Once the final consequence is exercised by the teacher, he/she relinquishes all authority to the principal as to what measures will be taken.

Students are expected to follow all school rules and policies and to obey all adults that are members of the faculty and staff. Our school follows our mission of

Today I will SOAR: Strive to be a problem solver, Obey the rules, Act Responsibly, and Respect others.

5 Whole Brain Teaching School-wide rules are implemented.

1. Follow directions quickly.

2. Raise your hand for permission to speak.

3. Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.

4. Make smart choices.

5. Keep your learning community happy.

STUDENT ADJUSTMENT CENTER (SAC/AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION)

The Student Adjustment Center will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Students are assigned to either 1-hour or 2-hour detentions. Notices will be sent home on the day of the infraction and a reminder note will be sent home the Tuesday before the actual detention. All students must be signed out by an adult. To avoid late arrivals, parents are asked to arrive as early as 4:50 p.m. All students must be picked up by 5 p.m. A subsequent consequence, such as additional detention hours or a one-day suspension, will result if a student does not show up for detention without contacting the administrator or detention teacher.

REWARDING POSITIVE BEHAVIOR

Golden Eagle

Staff will inform stipulations for “Golden Eagle”. Each month, teachers will choose one student to receive the “Golden Eagle” Award. This student will be selected based on behaviors that exhibit leadership qualities. Student names and photos will be posted on a special bulletin board in the main hall and receive additional acknowledgement.

Positive Office Referral

Another way of recognizing positive behavior at Raintree will be the “Positive Office Referral”. Every member of our campus will issue certificates to reinforce students for appropriate behavior. The certificates communicate that when students demonstrate leadership skills, their behavior will be positively acknowledged. The certificates will be posted in the hallways for the special recognition.

Raintree’ staff has developed many ways to incorporate the certificates into immediate and long-term reinforcement. The students will report to the office at a convenient time to collect a prize in the principal’s office as well as being recognized in Harambe’.

Eagle Bucks

Raintree Elementary will begin to use “Eagle Bucks” system as another way of rewarding good behavior. All staff will use the Eagle Bucks to reinforce students for appropriate behavior. The bucks communicate that when students follow the expectations their behavior will be positively acknowledged. Students will learn that if they want reinforcement, they must earn bucks with their positive behavior.

Eagle Bucks will become a mainstay of Raintree’s reinforcement plan. Raintree’s staff has developed many ways to incorporate the bucks into immediate and long-term reinforcement. The bucks will be spent like money. Students will “spend” them at the student Eagle Buck store.
