Other Grading Information

ACCELERATED READER (AR)

Students in grades 2nd through 5th may read AR books and complete tests to increase reading comprehension. Incentives will be given to students who reach their goals. Additional incentivesare given for the highest word count and the most AR points. If a student reads one million words, he/she will receive the Word Millionaire award from our school district, S t. Mary Parish Schools.

SCHOOL BUILDING LEVEL COMMITTEE (SBLC)

Any student that may have academic or behavioral concerns could be referred to the SBLC. Parents will be notified when their student is referred and will be invited to attend the meeting to discuss any concerns the staff member(s) or parents may have about the student. Those that are generally on thecommittee are the classroom teachers, an administrator, the school’s pupil appraisal, curriculum facilitator, parents, and the SBLC coordinator.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR REQUIREMENTS

Students in grade 5 will be nominated by their teachers based on criteria outlined by St. Mary Parish School Board.
